Welcome to the Gi4housing web forum, here you will find help using examples and case studies and contacts to support and assist your use of GI within your organisation, and the promote the use of geography in the wider context.

The whole idea for Gi4housing came about due to perceived lack of support, networks, and skills and for want of a better word "Community" within the Housing environment.

It appeared that whilst there were pockets of people doing excellent things with GIS and working in the housing field there wasn't any real continuity, best practice examples and a lack of communication between these individuals / organisations. The idea behind Gi4housing was to try and breakdown these barriers and provide a central repository of information, examples of GIS in use, Best Practise examples, and useful links and ultimately a forum which would focus on Housing Issues.

The concept is that it should not be vendor specific but should support as many GIS products as possible, Housing Managements systems, and Data Suppliers.

This site will enable discussion with other individuals working in similar fields struggling with the same problems and more theoretical support for strategy, planning and development of GI within the work place.
